A First-Timer's Guide to Goa

Goa is small but it splits into two very different vacations. Here's how to decide.

North vs South

North Goa is the busy one — beach shacks, nightlife, hippie markets in Anjuna and Vagator. South Goa is quieter, with longer beaches and palm-fringed resorts. If you want one of each, base yourself in Candolim.

When to go

November through February is peak season — dry, sunny, and crowded. March and October are warmer but cheaper. The monsoon (June–September) is gorgeous in its own way but most beach shacks shut down.
